Of love, happiness, and other disasters

I love the smell of flowers, the smell of lilac and salty water, I love the way the sun gently touches my skin with its life giving rays. I love the smell of my beloved, the sweet bitter scent of her hair as it permeates the pillows. I love the mountains, the air of up high, the way it hits me, a man of smog and smoke, a man of machines and technology, and boy does it hit hard… I love this world. There’s much to be grateful of. Nothing of this is worth money. Happiness is all around us, easy for us to take, to nurture and to hold on to. Happiness comes easy, when you want it to come. It is not forgiving, but forgives, it is not common, but you can find it everywhere. We, humans, are social beings. We, as a whole, lack those skills to make life an individual endeavor, and we thrive in groups. We find happiness in the happiness of others, we expect to be made happy by others. Empathy, is very hard to miss. Most people have it. Some have too much of it. Others, have less. We all relate to how others go on their lives. We are happy or sad just by looking at how others look at us. Not just one, or two people. We say “THE PEOPLE”, or “OTHERS”, as if it were a common understanding that we alone lack, or a skill that all the others have and we don’t. There can be no happiness in the big picture. Happiness is in the small things. In the movement of a single flower, in the glitter of the sun as it reflexion hits the water, in the movement of the grass as the wind gently brushes against it. Happiness in the “here and now”. Everything and everyone begins small. There we find happiness. There we should look. Happiness can be found everywhere. Wherever there’s life, wherever there’s movement, there’s happiness. We need only to look, only to search for it. I found this to be exhilarating, this search for happiness. It sharpens your senses; it makes you react faster, makes you observe things you didn’t observe before. There is no other way for happiness to be yours. Otherwise, happiness will be the partner of others. You will catch a glimpse of it, when others are in the mood for sharing, but unless you find yours, and make it your own, you’ll never be free. Never truly happy. Don’t react, but be proactive. Search for it. Grab it. Embrace it. Love it. Share it.
